It can seem like forever to get your home built, but it’s definitely worth the wait when you finally get those keys!

Here Rob Stewart, CEO of the Master Builders Association (MBA) South Australia, shares the final stages of the building process.

Maintenance period
The final stage of building a home incorporates a maintenance period (usually of around 90 days) during which time the builder can tend to any minor problems and address what you’d like rectified.

At this stage, it’s a good idea to make a list that you can both go through together.

Hand-over
Hand-over occurs when the builder has completed the project and all money has been paid in accordance with the contract. On hand-over, you become responsible for all service fees and insurances on the property. Your dream home has come to fruition and your new life in your new home can begin!
